A family recommendation: Andy’s solar and battery installation

For Andy’s family, the journey with Solar Acre began close to home. His parents live around the corner from Steve, our technical director. What started with a battery added to their existing solar system grew into further upgrades—and a recommendation to their son.

From a battery upgrade to a family recommendation

We first helped Andy’s parents add battery storage to the solar panels they already had. They were so pleased with the result that they asked us back to replace the older panels with newer, larger panels.

With more solar generation available, they then expanded their battery storage. After working with us through those stages, they recommended Solar Acre to Andy, who went on to have his own solar and battery system installed.

Andy’s solar and battery system

Andy’s installation combines 22 Trina Vertex S+ 465W panels with a Fox ESS EVO10 system. The panels provide a total rated capacity of 10.23kWp, paired with an 8kW inverter and 10.24kWh of integrated battery storage.

The panels are arranged across two roof slopes, with 12 on one side and 10 on the other. The east- and west-facing layout was designed around the available roof space. Fastensol pitched-roof mounting completes the panel installation.

Making use of solar throughout the day

The combination of solar and storage gives Andy a way to use electricity from his roof during the day and store some of it for later. How much the home uses directly, stores or exports will depend on the weather, the household’s electricity use and the system settings.

The installation proposal forecasts annual solar generation of 8,255kWh. This is a design estimate, not a measured result or a guarantee; actual generation will vary from year to year.

A relationship built over several projects

This project followed a series of smaller decisions within one family: adding storage, renewing panels, expanding storage, and then recommending the same team to the next household. It is a lovely example of how a local installation can lead to an ongoing relationship.
